Kalinago is like a breath of fresh air when you first see it. As you approach you are struck by the beauty of the picturesque bay and beach - and on the beach - 30 metres from the water's edge - is this lovely small hotel, painted a soft, fresh, mint green contrasting beautifully with the white sand of Morne Rouge Beach and the bright blue of the Caribbean Sea. The resort takes its name from the indigenous people of the Caribbean; the Caribs we call them in English - Kalinago in their native tongue. As you enter the reception area, the beach and the ocean, just a few metres away, fill your view. Kalinago has just 29 rooms on three floors so it is a small hotel, excellent personal service and a sublime location. The rooms were spacious, clean and painted in soft colours. The hotel's gardens, grounds and facilities were well maintained with a lot of care and attention.  This is an excellent small hotel and the friendly, attentive customer service was very apparent - and impressive. Kalinago is very reasonably priced and recommended for all visitors.

Kalinago is a lovely small hotel on a breathtakingly beautiful beach.
Excellent guest rooms, amenities and friendly customer service.
Kalinago is in a secluded spot - and still close to activities and nightlife.
Very good value for money and ideal for those who want peace and quiet.

Morne Rouge is a gorgeous small bay, with a white, soft sand beach stretching almost half a mile around a picturesque cove framed by volcanic cliffs at each end of the bay. Our favourite beach on the island. Very secluded and picturesque an idyllic place to relax and enjoy your holiday, with the option to do more if you want to. Kalinago is the only hotel on Morne Rouge beach - it shares the beach with a small apartment building next door called Gem which we also offer.  The only road is a service road to the hotel - almost no traffic. Just around the headland, a short walk away, is the world famous Grande Anse beach. Although the area has these two outstanding beaches, it is surprisingly undeveloped with just handful of small hotels and resorts along the entire south western coast. The hotel offers entertainment and is close to the shopping and nightlife areas, like Grande Anse (Wall Street) and True Blue Bay. I walked from the hotel to the shopping area, a 15 minute walk, past 4 hotels/restaurants, which offer some nightlife options nearby. The Grande Anse area has a few restaurants, clubs and bars. The True Blue Bay area is just 5 miles away which also has clubs and restaurants. All the nightlife on Grenada is relaxed and low key so you will able to get out and about, if you wish, and enjoy the local nightlife. The hotel is 4 miles from the airport, 5 miles from St. George's, the historic capital. The National Park, with its waterfalls and rain forest in the heart of the island, is 10 miles (25 minutes by car or bus).

This small hotel has just 29 rooms all facing the ocean, on three floors. All the rooms overlook the glorious beach, just a few metres away, with an exceptional ocean view. The resort refers to their rooms as "Patymas" the Carib Indian word for resting place. The rooms are decorated in fresh, Caribbean colours and have an authentic Caribbean feel, in keeping with the 'Kalinago' spirit, furnished with hand crafted teak Amerindian style furniture. The rooms are spacious, they average 405 sq. ft. in size and have the same features and specifications with a choice of beds to suit guests' preference.

Each room has air conditioning, King Size or Queen size or 2 double beds, 26/31 inch flat screen television, ipod dock alarm radio, personal safe, ironing facilities, ceiling fan, coffee maker, telephone, internet access, 110/220 volt sockets, hair dryer, bath and shower (with grab bars) and a private patio/balcony with that superb ocean view.

Facilities On the Resort

Aosja Swim-up Pool Bar - happy hour at sunset - The turquoise swim-up bar faces the Caribbean Sea.

Sea Breeze Beach Bar - small and a little quirky - on the beach

Kalinago Beach Resort Restaurant - built in a contemporary Caribbean style, the restaurant overlooks the beach and ocean. This is a very good restaurant with a relaxed ambiance and I enjoyed the wonderful views. The restaurant serves all meals during the day - Creole and international dishes. It has a very well-stocked bar.

Diving & Snorkelling

Grenada is famous for its outstanding coral reefs, marine life, 15 shipwrecks and the unique Underwater Sculpture Park. Lots of exciting sites with great variety, for snorkellers, novice divers and experienced divers. There are more than 30 excellent dive sites, 10 to 15 minutes from shore - including Boss Reef, a 5 mile long reef, and the Bianca C the largest shipwreck in the Caribbean. I have made this trip myself. Dive boats go from the beach, three times a day, for divers and snorkellers to see coral gardens, walls, wrecks, sharks, dolphins, hawksbill turtles, rays and much more. There are several sheltered reef sites - ideal snorkelling for all the family. See the diving and snorkelling pages links on the banner above - for a dive site map and more information on the fantastic underwater world of Grenada. We work closely with an excellent PADI Five Star / BSAC dive centre close to the resort, which will collect divers and snorkellers from the beach - just a few metres from your room ! However, it's just 5 minute walk to Grand Anse beach where the dive centre is situated. Boats take small groups of 6-8 divers and snorkellers and, at most sites, there will be just you and few (new) friends. However, this means boats can get fully booked very easily.
It is important to book any diving you might wish to do before you arrive. We can book all your diving requirements for you.
Booking any service with us like diving - will save you money and be part of an ATOL protected holiday itinerary.
It will ensure that service is available to you when you arrive and avoid disappointment.
